About Me

Hi, I'm Bryan Wandrych, a Data Engineer & Analytics Engineer at Daimler Truck North America: Detroit Diesel, where I turn testing-fleet measurement data into cloud-queryable tables on Azure and Databricks. I like systems I can run myself: at work that's data pipelines; at home it's a rack of servers, a 3D printer, a drawer of Arduinos, and a Compaq Portable that still boots.

Outside of work

Homelabing

I love running my own servers — building, breaking, and perfecting my network for my needs & wants.

Everything is port-forwarded to the web and locked down for secure access from anywhere — getting it all to its current state took a lot of evenings.

The hardware

A rack of eight Raspberry Pi 5s, a Minisforum mini PC as my Windows machine, a Mac Mini running the Jellyfin server — plus a single cloud server from Linode.

Jellyfin

Self-hosted media server for movies, shows, and music.

Nextcloud

Self-hosted file sync and storage — my own cloud.

Apache Guacamole

Self-hosted remote desktop, right in the browser.

OpenClaw

I love being able to communicate with my systems and automate routine chores and everyday annoyances. A lot of my machines serve as nodes for my local model.

3D Printing

I enjoy 3D printing on my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon. I don't design my own models — I find things worth printing on MakerWorld, Thingiverse, and the like.

I print useful things for myself, my girlfriend, and my family. Latest print: a lithophane lampshade full of family photos.

In the cloud

My Linode cloud server hosts this very site and my self-hosted SMTP mail server.

Retro hardware

I love collecting and playing with old computer hardware — like this Compaq Portable, booted into DOS.

Tailscale

I yearn for maximum secureness with minimum friction — Tailscale lets me reach all of my connected hardware with ease, from anywhere.

Ollama

For the best privacy, I run my own models on my own hardware — either on my MacBook Pro M3 Max with 128GB, or sharded across my Raspberry Pi 5 node racks.

Arduino tinkering

I love messing with Arduinos — writing the C code and learning basic circuits as I go.

Agentic coding

I love messing around with agentic coding, especially for prototyping new projects fast. The agents scaffold — but I still write the final project myself.

Skiing

Winter sport of choice.

Friends & family

Time with the people who matter most.

Hiking

Favorite way to spend time outdoors.
